1. Who we are
AshAuto Inc. (CRA Business Number 790398044), trading as AshCar ("AshCar," "we," "us"), operates the website at ashcar.ca, the car-sourcing request service described on it, and the service for people selling a car through it. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, including the car search request form and the sell-your-car form, and how we use it.

2. Information we collect
When you submit a car search request through the site, we collect what you enter into the form, which may include:
- The car you're looking for: make, model, trim, year range, mileage/kilometre range, fuel type, budget, and any notes you add
- Your name
- Your phone number, if you provide one
- Your email address, if you provide one
We also collect standard technical information any website collects automatically, such as browser type and general usage data, through normal web server and hosting logs.
3. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Search for cars matching your request
- Contact you about matches, updates, and next steps for your specific request
- Respond if you contact us directly
- Improve the service
We do not use your information for any purpose unrelated to the car search request you submitted, except as described in this policy.
4. Mobile information and SMS consent (CASL)
AshCar's text messaging programme is offered to Canadian phone numbers under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We only send you SMS messages if you have given express consent - a clear, unforced action such as checking an unchecked opt-in box on our request form. We never treat submitting the rest of the form, or any other action, as consent to be texted.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the categories of information described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
If you provide a phone number and opt in to SMS updates, we use that number and consent only to send you messages about your own car search request, as described in our SMS Terms. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP, as described in the SMS Terms; your opt-out request will be honoured within 10 business days, and our opt-out mechanism remains usable for at least 60 days after any message it applies to.
We keep a record of your consent - including the date, the exact wording you were shown, and the version of that wording - for at least 3 years after our last message to you, as required under CASL.
Providing a phone number, and opting in to SMS specifically, is never required to use the site or submit a car search request.
5. How we share information (outside of SMS)
We may share the details of your car search request (the car you want, not your phone number or SMS consent) with sellers, dealers, or other market sources, only as necessary to find and present matching vehicles to you. We do not sell your personal information.
Three third parties receive or hold information you submit, and no others:
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this site and stores submitted requests, listings and uploaded photographs. Data is held in Cloudflare's Eastern North America region.
- HighLevel Inc. (GoHighLevel) is our customer relationship system. Your name, contact details, the details of your request or listing, and your consent record are written to it so we can act on them.
- Google LLC serves the typeface this site uses (Google Fonts). This receives your IP address as part of loading a font file. It receives nothing you type and no contact details.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and none of the above is permitted to use it for their own marketing.
6. Cookies and website analytics
This site runs no analytics product and no advertising pixel. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel and no Google Ads tag active on it.
The site does store two small values in your own browser: a random identifier it makes up about itself, and the advertising campaign that brought you here if you arrived from an advertisement. Neither is a cookie sent to anyone else, both stay in your browser until you clear it, and they are attached to your request only if you choose to submit one. Clearing your browser's site data removes both.
When you send us a form, your browser also remembers the name, email and phone you gave, so the next AshCar form you open is filled in for you. This copy stays in your browser only and is never matched to you by IP address or any other signal. It is kept for 90 days, it never remembers a consent tick, and the "Not you?" link under any filled form deletes it straight away.
If an advertising pixel is ever switched on, this section will be rewritten to describe what it collects before it goes live.
7. Your rights
You may ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us using the details in Section 1. We will respond within a reasonable time.
AshCar serves Canada only, so Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) applies. The operating entity is incorporated in and based in Ontario. Ontario has no general private-sector privacy statute of its own, so unlike an entity based in Quebec, Alberta or British Columbia, PIPEDA is the operative regime here rather than a provincial one. This page has still not been reviewed by a lawyer.
8. Children's privacy
AshCar's service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
